General Description

The LPA4871 is an audio power amplifier designed forportable applications such as GPS trackers. The LPA4871 is capable of delivering 3W of continuousaverage power to a 4? load from a 5.2V power supplywith less than 10% distortion (THD+N).

The LPA4871 is designed specifically to provide highquality output audio power with a minimal number ofexternal components. The LPA4871 does not requireoutput coupling capacitors or bootstrap capacitors, andtherefore is ideally suited where minimal board or solutionsize is a primary requirement. It features a low-powershutdown mode, which is achieved by driving the SHDNpin with logic high. Additionally, the device features aninternal thermal shutdown protection.

The device contains circuitry to prevent “pop and click”noise that would occur during turn-on and turn-offtransitions. For maximum flexibility, the device provides an externally controlled gain (with resistors), aswell as an externally controlled turn-on and turn-off times(with the bypass capacitor).

The device is available in a SOP-8/MSOP8 package.
