General Description

The LP4070E is a complete constant-current/constant-voltagelinear charger for single cell lithium-ion batteries. Its TDFN-6package and low external component count make the LP4070Eideally suited for portable applications. Furthermore, the deviceoperates from either a USB port or AC adapter. Due to theinternal MOSFET architecture,No external sense resistor isneeded and no blocking diode is required.Thermal feedbackprevents overheating by regulating the charge current to limitthe die temperature during high power operation or highambient temperature conditions.The charge voltage is preset at4.2V/4.35V and the charge current can be programmed up to300mA externally with a single resistor. The LP4070Eautomatically terminates the charge cycle when the chargecurrent drops to 10% programmed value after the final floatvoltage is reached. When the input supply (wall adapter or USBsupply) is removed, the LP4070E automatically enters a lowcurrent state, dropping the battery drain current to less than 1μA.Other features include charge current monitor, automaticrecharge and charge status indications.
